Konnakol the south Indian drum language is en vogue. Those mind blowing fast spoken rhythms conquer the western world.

Not only percussionists but also a growing number of vocalists and instrumentalists discover this form of expression, that is still new to the western world, to get their audiences raving.

The big effect that Konnakol has on the audience is used by artists of all genres ever more and more. It is no surprise that the number of shows that have a Konnakol solo as their climax are constantly rising.

Especially for percussionists and drummers Konnakol is the ultimate chance to leave their place in the background and come to the front, to be the center of attraction.

The human voice is the main attraction for the listener. There for, nearly all hits are sung.

With a instrumental solo one will never inspire never as many listeners as with singing inserts. The human voice will remain always the attraction for the public, particularly if thereby a high speed Konnakol solo is performed.

Many musicians have already proven that they can drive the audience crazy with Konnakol. All above, R.A. Rammamani, T.A.S. Mani, John McLaughlin, Lori Cotler and many more.

The fascinating of Konnakol is, the voice does something completely different than one is used of it. That terribly fast recitation of syllables occurs in no singing style in this way. Konnakol is completely unique, not like beatboxing or scatsinging, where with the former instruments are copied, and in the later syllables are sung freely.

Konnakol has a deep rhythmic meaning. Because Konnakol is more than only a stage effect. With Konnakol you dive into in the secret of the fantastic south indian rhythmic system.

To say it with John Mc Laughlins words:

Essentially, konakkol is a marvelous system of Indian rhythm that is done without an instrument. You use your voice and your hands so you don't have to learn a percussion instrument in order to fully understand the simplicity and sophistication of Indian rhythmical traditions. It's a system I highly recommend to all my students, although I don't claim in any way to be a master of konnakol. But as I said, rhythm is really universal and if you can understand konnakol - the most superior system of learning rhythm in the world - you can understand any rhythm from any country on the planet. For example, if I have to communicate something to one of the percussion players in Remember Shakti, I can sing it to the min a rhythmical sense and vice-versa. It could be"Ta-ka ta-ka ta ta-katin day ta." You then immediately see the mathematics of it. And if you can sing a rhythm, it means you understand what it is and then it's a question of applying it to your instrument.

And that is what this DVD - course is about. To use the most effective way, to learn, to understand and to express rhythm, with Konnakol.

With this Konnakol course it is possible for every musician to dive into the secrets of South Indian rhythm and thus, to make new deep profitable experiences  witch are the most musician never get.

A Muktayam is a pattern with at least two, or more parts of arbitrary length. It doesn`t follow the puls of the music, but overlays the pulse with irregular accents and finally leads to the one.

With the help of the Muktayam we will develop highly effective tension. You get 6 exciting Muktayam of different length and degree of difficulty. Of course again with the basic mathematics, so that the clever pupil, can build his own Muktayam whit a little practice.

Korapu is a systematically reducing pattern of several cycles.

In the solo we will put the learned elements together in an exciting way .
